The Artist

One of my earliest memories is sitting on the kitchen floor of my childhood home and illustrating my own version of the fable The Lion and the Mouse.  As the baby of the family, I remember looking up through the truncated legs of others in the room and brandishing my completed work.  I don't recall my family's response to my first work of  art, but I do remember my own emotional response to my accomplishment which was pure exhilaration.   I had discovered an aspect of my identity which is that I am an artist.  Of course my four year old self didn't understand this; I just knew I felt good!

Many years have lapsed since that initial memory.  Artistic expression became a pastime as I pursued other activities with equal passion. Perhaps the fable of The Lion and the Mouse had a lasting impression as one of the things I did was to become a Licensed Professional Counselor.  Like the mouse I tried to free people of their entanglements.  But now I have returned to my first passion.  The feeling of  exuberance I felt as a young child has returned.  Encapsulated in my art, I share this emotion with you the viewer in my online gallery now.  Enjoy!
