A Moment with Vermeer
Description:
I had quite a bit of fun with this painting. The model was actually on a platform that could be rotated. I was stationary while the person I was painting was being turned. Note, however, that in the composition there are two women identified by different colored hats! I imagined the beautifully dressed woman in white was looking at a painting of Vermeer's entitled Girl with a Red Hat (painted between 1665-1666). Yet, in this imagined reality, it is the woman wearing the red hat that ultimately becomes the subject of the painting!
